Digital Business Clusters
Recent work carried out by Lincolnshire County Council has identified that there are a large number of Lincolnshire based companies that work in the digital sector. Currently, there are few opportunities for these businesses to come together to actively network, learn from each other, share best practice and collaborate on business opportunities. There are also few forums, particularly within Boston and East Lindsey, providing access to information about what is happening in the wider digital technology business sector.
CDI Alliance|, working with Globe Consultants| have been commissioned by Lincolnshire County Council to coordinate and develop a digital business cluster and provide specialist business support to this growing sector within the county of Lincolnshire. The activity will be focussed on the three key areas of Lincoln, East Lindsey and Boston.
The project, which is jointly funded by Lincolnshire County Council and ERDF (European Regional Development Fund) is part of a larger programme of activities within the county called Online Revolution. This programme aims to ensure that local businesses take full advantage of the opportunities brought about by digital technologies and to overcome any knowledge or capacity gaps.
It is anticipated that the creation of a Digital Business Cluster would strengthen the digital company base, as it has in other parts of the country, and lever in private investment so that these services are available locally and businesses will then have a platform to enable information exchange, networking and sharing of resource and skills.
CDI Alliance and Globe Consultants will host a series of activities including local networking and seminar events plus a large digital summit (conference & exhibition) in September 2012 and 2013 with national high profile speakers.
They will also provide specialist business support to the digital cluster members as well as developing joint collaboration with other companies and higher education institutions and more importantly developing local business opportunities with other sector businesses to sell their digital products and services to utilise the future broadband potential.

The project aims to be as inclusive as possible, so if you are aware of any eligible businesses within Lincoln, Boston or East Lindsey who may also like to be involved, please do spread the word.

The Online Revolution programme is jointly funded by Lincolnshire County Council and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). Running until December 2013, it will deliver a 30 month package of activities aimed at reducing digital exclusion across Lincolnshire’s three ERDF priority areas, these being Lincoln City, East Lindsey and Boston. This aim will be achieved by providing targeted help and support to Small to Medium Sized Companies (SME’s), residents and communities through a broad range of supply and demand activities.
