Waddington Exchange delayed?

#1
Hi folks,

Just an observation I've made…

Openreach website used to state March 2014 for activation but is now showing June 2014. Is there a reason why this is the case?

#2
Good Morning William,
Thanks for getting in touch with us.

There were a few duct blockages and a requirement for a new road crossing on the 'Spine' cable feeding Waddington. These issues have now been resolved and we are expecting the Waddington cabinets to be live before the end of this month. We will update the website when this happens. We normally update on Friday afternoons.
The Openreach website will have looked at a worse case scenario.

Afternoon Steve,

Thanks for the update, I think it really benefits everyone if they get info like this when issues arise. Helps soften the blow of seeing a date change!

Hopefully it won't be too long for Harmston's E6 to come online *fingers crossed*

Thanks

Keep an eye in roadworks.org for BT work and info such as blockages!

Hello,

Do we know when Harmston will be ready?? Could you provide any dates of when work will start?? I notice they have put the cabinet in place but nothing else! Why are they working in Waddington when they have Virgin, surely they should be rolling it out in areas that don't have Fibre.

Regards

Good Morning Steve,
Thanks for getting in touch. As you quite rightly point out, work in the Waddington area is currently ongoing, but if you would kind E Mail me your full address and home telephone number (In Confidence), I can tell you what is happening relevant to your line.
In terms of coverage for Waddington, there are areas that are covered by Virgin Media and also areas that aren't and it is the latter we are targetting.

Any updates on Harmston?

Thanks

Hi please can we have an update on Harmston? I've read that there has been some activity in Waddington this week but when will this translate to actual faster speeds being available please?
#11
Good Morning Matt,

The road crossing to the new cabinet that was needed has been completed and cabling/splicing is ongoing. We are confident that this cabinet will complete within the next couple of weeks. We will update the website as soon as it goes 'Live'.
I am aware of a lot of interest in this cabinet and we are pressing BT hard to complete.

Steve

Cabinet E6 in Harmston is Engineering Complete today. There will now be a couple of weeks testing and acceptance, but third week of August looks good at the moment.

Great news, thanks Steve

Morning,

As we get closer to the 3rd week of August, are there any updates for the site on what speeds residents can expect? I thought the postcode check might have updated information on there by now.

Thanks

Good Morning William,

As soon as the cabinet goes 'Live', the DSL Checker will tell you exactly what you can expect. Shouldn't be long now.

And the results are in for Harmston E6…

FTTC Range A (Clean) 20.4 14.4 2.1 0.8 -- Available

FTTC Range B (Impacted) 17.7 7.9 1.9 0.6 -- Available

Now we're quite far from the FTTC cab so I wasn't expected superfast speeds but actually quite pleased with this. A little disappointing on the upload speed, would have hoped for at least 4-5. I know these estimates are often quite conservative too.

Judging that our current ADSL connection is above target speed, I'm hoping we have a clean line and able to have a nice 20/2 connection.

All in all, very happy. Now Steve… lets hope in a few years time we can utilise FTTRN/DP to push those speeds higher ;)

Good morning Stephen & William,

Is the Harmston / Waddington exchange ready to go now? I tried putting my phone number into the Broadband Availability Checker but I don't really understand what its telling me?

Thanks,

Matt

Hi Matt,

Whilst the exchange is already upgraded it is the cabinet which is important in terms of being able to order an improved service.

I can look into the situation in more detail for you if you can provide me with your full address and landline telephone number (in confidence). You can either email this information to OnLincolnshire@lincolnshire.gov.uk or owen.williams@lincolnshire.gov.uk; alternatively you could complete one of the "contact us" forms available on the website.

Hi All,

Well had the Fibre installed started off ok 17mb but got a fault already!!! Down to 10mb.

I am on the new estate in Harmston and to be honest I'm surprised that Openreach have not installed a small FTTC on Church Lane which would have given much higher speeds....
I think Openreach need to be looking in more detail where to locate the cabinets to maximise speed for everyone. I understand they have a budget to work to but all that will happen is they will have to go back in future to upgrade again.

If 17mb is all we can expect I would not call this high speed and I shall be going back to standard broadband, very disappointed.
