Tattershall/Coningsby

Hello

I believe I am connected to cabinet 3 in Coningsby, do you know when work is planned to start here? Depending on where I check it is either this month or January next year.
#2
Hi Jake,

Thanks for writing in to us.

Coningsby Cab. 3 is in Phase 5 of this project and work will start in January 2015. Immediately before we start the implementation of this cabinet, we will carry out a detailed survey and from there, we should get a much clearer view of the expected completion date.
Please keep in touch and we will be happy to update you as we progress.

Regard
steve

Hello Stephen

I see some work has started on this last week, the cab has been sat in place and some cables put in. Any update from your end on this one?
#4
Good Morning Jake,

Latest estimate I have is around 1 month from today's date. I should get more accurate updates over the next couple of weeks.

Steve

Hello Stephen

Just wondering if you have new information on this cab, saw the BT guy out last week.
#6
Good Morning Jake,

They are still telling me within October, but I am meeting them on Thursday and will get a clearer date.

Hi Stephen,

Just wondered if there was any further information after your meeting on Thursday.

Good Morning David,

They have given me the end of October as a realistic completion date. We will chase them over the next couple of weeks to try ensure we hit that date. As soon as we complete, we will update the website.
Thanks for your ongoing patience.

Hello Stephen,

Do you have any information on cabinet 4 by any chance? I know coningsby is an enabled area but there is no specific breakdown per cabinet.

Good Morning,

Significant parts of the area are already enabled, but there are still a few cabinets outstanding, Cabinet 4 off Coningsby being one of them. We are scheduled to complete this before 31st December and the latest update tells me we are on course to do this. We will try to complete as soon as possible and we will update the website when we complete this one.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the update. I have a few questions about the process itself:

Whereabouts is the location of the cabinet (4)? I hear as range increases, speed decreases..

What more work is needed on the cabinet?

If I'm on BT, is there still a 2 week delay, considering they are my ISP?

Many thanks in advance!

Good Morning,

Please see address below.

Yes, it is correct that speed reduces with distance and if you send me an E Mail address (In confidence), I will send a couple of indicative graphs.

The cabinet is still being completed in terms of the copper connections and fibre connections,

With regard to the 2 week delay, under OFCOM regulations all ISPs, including BT will get the news that at a cabinet is ready at the same time. this ensures fair play as OFCOM see it.

We will update again as soon as we get some more news.

Good Morning,

Just to update you, Coningsby 3 is 'stood, lit and powered' and should be ready for service at the end of this week - it should then be able to take orders from around the 21st November.

An asbestos duct has been identified leading to Coningsby 4 which needs to be removed by a specialist team. The work has been allocated and this duct will be removed as soon as possible.

Kind regards
Naomi

Hi just wanted to confirm that Coningsby 3 was ready for service as planned.
#18
Good Morning David,

We will get the official notification tomorrow, but i'm told it is engineering complete. It will now be handed to all ISPs as ready and there is normally a 2 week slot allocated before it become available to the Public. On that basis, it should be ready to take orders on or around 28th November.

Steve

I saw some Openreach vehicles today passing through Coningsby, was that progress on 4's asbestos duct or only wishful thinking? :)

We have sent an enquiry to BT so should be able to update our website this afternoon with the latest.
On a slightly different note, Cab. 3 will show as complete on the site this afternoon so should be taking orders.

My ISP is BT,

I logged into the 'My BT' Page and click on upgrade my broadband and I was able to checkout.
#27
Thanks for that Jake. Unfortunately still no date for availability for us so looks like we possibly won't get it :(.

Just to update the thread.

Tattershall Bridge will not be getting any improvement at all from the superfast broadband roll out despite what is shown in the maps and the post code checker. Very very disappointed would be a vast understatement.

So as a community we are all stuck on the old system and will be for the foreseeable future and feel that we will be left out in the cold as we usually are out here as we seem to be in all projects.

Good Morning David,

My apologies and I can fully understand your frustration.

However, we haven't forgotten about you and those residents that do not benefit from this deployment will be included in the secondary phase we are about to embark upon. we hope to utilise an alternative technology to provide fast broadband to those people living further away from roadside cabinets.
The technology we are looking to utilise is Fibre To The Remote Node (FTTRN), but this is still going through the approval process at Government and we will update as soon as we get more news.

Thanks for the update Steve but what sort of timescale are we realistically looking at for this to be implemented?

Is there a reason the map given for phase 3 was so wrong with the area covered in this area?

David

Hi David,

In theory, this activity would form a part of a second contract we would have to sign, probably with BT and if that is the route we take, they wouldn't look to start the second contract until the current contract ends (that's their latest position nationally).

However, we are pressing them hard to utilise a potential underspend within the current contract and we are hopeful that we will be succesful in that venture. At this point, we are still discussiing this and still trying to persuade them to run any second contract concurrently with the existing.

We hope to have more definate news over the coming month or two and we will update the website as we go.

With regards to the mapping, they are indicative only and it is very difficult to provide fine detail on a map that small. My apologies if they appear misleading.

Steve
#33
Hi is there any further news on the additional fibre to the node work for Tattershall Bridge?
#34
Hi any more news on alternative plans for all the areas missed out? Unfortunately there are no other viable alternatives for us at the moment.

Thanks
#35
Good Morning David,

We have issued an Invitation To Tender for the secondary phase contract and expect to sign a contract to commence delivery in May of this year.

we are trying to persuade the supplier to run the secondary phase concurrently with the main project and await confirmation of that.

As we move into Spring, we will get a much clearer view of a deployment schedule and we will be better placed to update you at that time.

steve
