Hi All,

Have we any update on the progress of Old Leake?
I noticed that Cabinet 3 has phsyically been moved and rewired, but not seen any update on the weekly news letter?

Are we still on track for the end of March?

thanks

Hi All
I live in Wrangle can somebody please tell me which cabinet this will be as I see from the blog that Cabinet 5 is not due for completion until June 2015. This is bound to be my one:)
Thanks

Good Morning Brian

Would you be able to email in with your address details at all? onlincolnshire@lincolnshire.gov.uk

It looks to me that some parts of Wrangle are fed from cabinet 3 which is due to be enabled before the end of March, subject to unforseen delays, but I'd like to ensure this is your cabinet.

Many thanks
Naomi

Hello, I live on Main Road, Wrangle, not far from Kime's Transport. Any idea if I'm connected to cab. 3?

Thanks,
Dave.

Hi
Is there any further news on the upgrade at the moment it states extensive traffic management required but no estimate of when this will be completed?
Thanks
Brian
#11
Good Morning Brian,

We anticipate completion between the end of June and September depending upon when we can negotiate access to the various work sites with Highways. We will keep an eye on progress and as we get into June, will publish weekly progress reports.

Is there any news on Old Leake cabinet 2
Things seem to have gone quiet
Thank you

#13
Good Morning Cliff,

We are experiencing significant issues with duct blockages feeding Old Leake and we are progressing these as quickly as we can. We are having to use signicant traffic management, so this is holding us up somewhat.

However, we are looking to complete by the end of July/early August and will update our site accordingly.

Steve
#14
Does this affect all of Old Leakes cabinets or just ones mentioned under delays in weekly project updates
#15
Good Morning Alex,

At the moment, the problems are affecting all Old Leake cabinets, but we are moving as quickly as possible to resolve these issues.

There is no mention on cabinet 2 on the project update for delayed cabinets in Old Leake. Is cabinet 2 on the current schedule ..
If so when can we expect it to be enabled
Thank you
Cliff goldsmith
#17
Good Morning Cliff,

Cabinet 2 doesn't form a part of this programme.

There are some Exchange Only lines that we will look to upgrade in Phase 7, but beyond that, the cabinets mentioned are the only cabinets in the plan.

In the project updates for 14th August, in the delayed cabinet section, it now shows that cabinet Old Leake 2 along with 1,3,4 and 5 will be active at the end of September. Is this really the case for cabinet 2 as in a previous reply to the post, we was told that cabinet 2 Old Leake was not in the list to be enabled

Hi Cliff

I think that this may unfortunately be an error, but I have asked BT to check this and get back to me and I will post on here when I have clarification. I'll remove 2 from the website for the time being

Many thanks
Naomi

Hi Cliff

I have just had confirmation that it was an error - apologies. This cabinet may feature in the second phase of the programme. We are just waiting to see what this looks like but when we have the details we will share them with you

Kind regards
Naomi

Is there any reason why cabinet 2 is excluded from this programme or phase
Thank you cliff goldsmith
#23
Good morning Cliff

The reason this cabinet has been excluded from the prorgramme to date is because the first project aimed at providing superfast access to 90% of the intervention area and, using the money we had available, Lincolnshire was modelled accordingly to ensure that the maximum benefit for residents was achieved. This cabinet came in over the cost threshold per connection for this first project - other structures would have been cheaper per connection. The next project has an increased cost threshold per connection so the cabinet may appear in this.

Kind regards

Hi
Old Leake Exchange is now live but Cabinet 3 is not mentioned (or 2) is this a typo or is something else now wrong with Cab 3 ?
Thanks
Brian

Good Morning Brian,

Cabinet 3 was completed on 16th September and was included in the updates on this site of 18th September.

Thanks Steve do you know when we will be able to order?
#27
Hi Brian,

I believe my colleague Naomi had previously mentioned her concerns regarding the distance you are located away from the upgraded cabinet.
Having looked at the BT DSL Checker, it would appear that you are located too far away from the upgraded cabinet to derive any benefit from the upgrade.

Hi , would it be possible to tell me when the Old Leake cabinet 6 will be completed and how will I know what speed a can expect . Thanks in advance .April
#29
Good Afternoon April

This cabinet is currently delayed due to engineering issues. If you would like the team to have a look in to your connection please email us at onlincolnshire@lincolnshire.gov.uk in confidence as we will need your full address

Hi Steve
As you said I cannot get superfast for my broadband. It does concern me that the checks are not thorough enough, it may be just the maps but when I look the check is done from an exchange in the wrong place on the map and not from the cabinet which feeds my line which is closer to me. Are there no physical checks that can be done or am I misreading the situation?
If it is still no where do I stand with my BT contract as I will look into cancelling maybe early and looking at other methods
Thanks
Brian

Good Morning Brian,

BT's end user speed assessment is indeed based upon a theoretical modelling where distance would be one of the key factors in their algorithm.
Where the FTTC technology that we are deploying is concerned, it is the distance from cabinet to end user that is critical as the cabinet to Exchange link is now fibre in the upgraded build.
On that basis, BT's systems calculate that you are located too far away from the cabinet to derive any benefit from the upgrade.

Hi
This is re: Old Leake Exchange - to far away from cabinet for me to get superfast.

I still check "When and Where" for BT Infinity on the openreach site and get the same message every time:
Accepting Orders but:
"We're keen to bring Superfast Fibre to your area and are exploring how best to achieve that. We may deliver it as part of our commercial programme, or by working in partnership with your local authority. At the moment you can't order Superfast Fibre"

I understand the distance is an issue but it now feels that I am now just being forgotten about and will not show up in any Government figures.

I today had ABInternet in to check if I can have their "Line of Site" wifi which is not possible either and as I work from home using VOIP the satellite route is a no go with the latency involved.

After the above rant my questions are:
What are Openreach actually "exploring" or is it as I expect a standard message that is just meaningless?

Who do I contact to get some answers to when and how the service to my home will be improved?

Thanks Brian

Good Morning Brian,

When we say BT are exploring options, we are saying that we are looking at the area to see what options are available utilising the available technology and at what cost and coverage levels we will achieve.

I think it important to stress that one of the objectives of the current project is to achieve 90% Superfast coverage across the county. Unfortunately, in hitting that objective, we are left with circa 10% which equates to just over 30K premises.

Phase 2 is a secondary phase where we have further funding to use and are looking to push as close to 95% Superfast coverage as possible. At the moment, BT are 'Modelling' a deployment plan to maximise the available funding in terms of cost efficiency and overall coverage.

I am the Programme Manager for the broadband programme and I'm happy to answer any further questions you may have, but I will not attempt to change existing plans with the associated increase in costs and corresponding reduction in overall coverage. We will publish the Phase 2 'Model' as soon as we agree and finalise it with BT.

Please could you tell me if old leake cabinet 2 has any further updates of when any future works on the broadband roll out will be taking place

Good Morning Cliff

We are still awaiting the Phase 2 Implementation Plan. This has had to be remodelled due to the addition of increased funding and whilst this is good news, it has added a further delay in terms of the plan going forward. we hope to see the revised plan very early in the New Year.

This discussion started on 29/12/14 that is 350 days ago and if the information published on this site said the project was to be completed by March 2015
To say the least that is poor service let alone poor project management.
Today we put the first public funded British man in space if BT were running the project it probable would not have happened because the civil works would need rework !

or some other lame reason

Can we have a definite DATE when we will be able to access SUPPER FAST BROADBAND
in OLD LEAKE or is that too much to ask
#37
Is there any joy yet on Old Leake cabinet 2
#38
Good Morning Cliff

We are still awaiting a response to Phase 2. We had an initial draft, but sent it back with some concerns. We hope to see the new one in February.

I didn't get to respond to John's previous comment, so I will now. Firstly, the 'Project' is due for completion on 31st March 2016 not 2015.

With regard to the man in space, I wonder if BT would take the same view as a lot of others and struggle to see what tangible benefits it will deliver.

Steve
