Kirton Cabinet 8

#1
Good afternoon, every week I look to see if this cabinet has been enabled, can you please advise me when this is likely to be?
#2
Good Morning Wendy,

Thanks for writing in to us.

Cabinet 8 off Kirton is due by 30th September and we are not due to bering it in during this 3 monthly cycle end 30th June.

Realistically, I would start checking again in mid-July and at that point, we will have a clearer view on the due date.

Regards
Steve

thanks for getting back to me Steve, bit dissapointed with that, when I put in my post code I get the follwoing message

"Your area is currently planned for Phase 5, so improved broadband should be available between January 2015 and June 2015"

as such we have been eagerly anticipating

could I be mistaken about the cabinet number? I live in Bannisters Lane, Frampton West

Hi Wendy

I've checked this for you and it is Kirton 8 which sources your telephone line. Apologies for any confusion in relation to the postcode checker - I think that because it works to a larger postcode area, PE20 1 in your instance, this can cause some issues.

Please sign up to our newsletter - we send these fortnightly and include lists of completed cabinets so that you can see when Kirton 8 is complete

Thanks

Good afternoon.

The latest project update still has this cabinet's estimated completion date as December 30th, and I can only assume that that's a holdover from a couple of weeks ago. Roadworks.org suggests that BT will be carrying out some work in the area beginning January 12th, so is it safe to assume that this is related to this particular cabinet?

Also, I know this can be a thorny and unpredictable issue, but, assuming the cabinet were to be installed by the end of the month, would there still be a strong probability of a wait of several months before BT enabled it for fibre broadband? I've read accounts of the process taking a long time, and, while I assume that it's more of a BT-related question and not necessarily related to this programme, would it then be a case of waiting a while for BT to contact us when faster broadband speeds were available?

Many thanks in advance.

Good Morning Richard,

The civils work didn't get completed by 30th December, so will carry over into this month. The roadworks.org date is correect, but we are trying to get in earlier. As soon as the civils are completed, we will look to complete the cabinet within 2 to 3 weeks following.
We know we are late with this one so we are pressing to complete as soon as possible.

"Kirton 8 - Shifted - expected end of February"
I really don't know why I bother to check progress on this, its so frustrating! and the explanation given for the continued delay explains absolutely nothing - what exactly is the problem?????????

Good evening.

Inserting my telephone number onto the BT Openreach website suggests that "the physical build is now completed and there shouldn’t need to be any further works in your area", with only the connection process to be carried out. Is this the case or does further work need to be done before the estimated completion timeframe of late February?

Good Afternoon Wendy,

We are having ongoing issues with the 'Civils' work on this one, but expect to complete during this month.

Good Morning Richard,

We are in the last phases of work on this cabinet and expect to complete during this month, probably towards the end of the month. as soon as the cabinert goes 'Live' we will update the website accordingly.

Good afternoon.

I have noticed that the latest project update states that this cabinet has now been built. having initially been delayed until late April, according to last week's update. On the BT website, however, it states that the cabinet is still in the same phase it has been for several months. Is this just a delay on the part of BT to update their site or do more steps need to be taken to complete the cabinet?
#18
Hi Richard

There will be another stage of approx two week to complete this cabinet because all of the service availability will need to be input into BTs computer systems before ISPs can offer a service. They seem to have brought this cabinet forward by a few weeks - in relation to the BT site, it will be an information lag. It may not get rectified until products are available in a couple of weeks time.

Please keep an eye on the updates and we'll declare when the cabinet is ready to take orders

Kind regards
Naomi

there apprears to be no update for last week, so those of us suffering delays are left wondering what their current status might be, have the weekly updates stopped, or should we expect an update soon so that we know what's happening?
#20
Good Morning Wendy,

Please accept my apologies for the lack of updates last week. We were busy with the Phase 2 data that we presented. Updates are still ongoing and we will get you the latest news later this week.

Good afternoon.

While the cabinet has been in place for over a year now, faster broadband is still not available. I came across a BT engineer a couple of months ago, and he said that they were looking at alternative options and bypassing the cabinet altogether.

I notice that postcodes served by this cabinet are now in the Phase 3 programme. Is there any particular timescale on this cabinet now, or could it be any time over the next couple of years?

Good Morning Richard,

I have a meeting with BT tomorrow and will get the latest update from them and update the forum.

Is there any update on this from last week?
#24
Good Morning Richard,

BT will try to bring the dates forward, but Phase 3 is due to complete anytime between now and Summer 2018. At this point, we do not have a specific completion date, but will take another look at the end of this month.
