When Honnington 1 goes on line after the power is sorted out , what speeds can we expect in the village.

Good Morning Peter,

Thanks for taking time to write to us.

Looking at the location of the cabinet in relation to the various postcodes within Marston, they appear to be circa 1Km away from the cabinet.
Assuming decent copper exists into the community, we should be looking at speeds in excess of 20Mb/s, but we will get the final numbers upon completion.

Steve

Hi,
That sounds good, will the speed go up automatically or do I need to contact my provider?
Peter

Good Morning Peter,

When we enable the cabinet and announce it on our website, you will need to contact your provider.

I see that Honnington 1 has road closure on the 12th for power connection, Does that mean we get connection on the 12th or it is still the 15th August?

Honington 1 power connection on 12th August can we expect higher speeds on the 13th August or does it take a few days after power

Good Morning Peter

Looks like they will start excavating for the supply on 12th, so depending upon size of excavation etc. should be complete within a few days.

Hi Peter,

When we connect the power, we can move to commissioning and we will get a more ezxact date this week. When we do complete the cabinet, we will update our website accordingly (normally done on a Friday afternoon) and from there, you will need to contact your Internet Service Provider to see what they can offer.

Will the excavation and power changes effect existing broadband speeds until completion.
Cheers

Good morning Peter, thank you for your post.

It shouldn't effect the existing service since this is provided by an alternate infrastructure which remains in situ. When a new service is ordered, an engineer will link that particular line in the old cabinet to the new DSLAM cabinet which links back to the fibre network.

Kind regards

Hi Peter
I have spoken to BT this morning and unfortunately the road closure didn’t go ahead as BT were let down by the traffic management company on the 12th August so there are going to be further delays. They are confident that it should be ready by the end of the quarter, but we are hoping that it will be before than this.

Kind regards

Hi
Friday tomorrow any news on the power connection or is it still drifting back.
Peter

Just read report about Honington 1 cabinet power, still on going is not an acceptable response it would appear that the list of delayed cabinets is getting longer and no additional resources are being provided to by BT or who ever else is involved to start pulling back the delays.
What action are you taking to reduce the delays?

Good Afternoon Peter,

As we described previously, the original date for the power supply slipped as a result of the Traffic Management team not arriving as planned. Because of this, we missed the 'window' with Highways and had to reschedule.
With regard to delayed cabinets, you will note that there are a variety of reasons including power supplies, traffic Management, Wayleaves and Network Rail, all of which are unforeseen circumstances. Equally, you will note that several of these cabinets progressed to RFS this week and are engineering complete and will be taking orders in 2 weeks.
We are working closely with BT to ensure sufficient resource exists and in terms of numbers completed, we are on target. At the same time, BT assure us sufficient resource exists, but when we get long length power supplies, traffic sensitive areas, network rail property, wayleaves etc coming into the mix, then unfortunately, it isn't about numbers of troops on the ground.

We will continue to push on all delayed cabinets.

Thank you for your response, however based on your comments and the response from BT when is the anticipated date for completion of the power connection for the Honington 1 cabinet.
Naomi in an early e mail said still by the end of August is this the case.

Hello Peter

Are you referring to the forum post of the 17th August? The end of the quarter is 30th September, not August.

Many thanks

Hi,
Based on
"04/09/15 Road crossing and power delivery due to be completed this week"
in your project update what is the time scale once power connected.

Hi Peter,

Assuming no snags with the road crossing and power, we should be all done and taking orders by the end of the month. we will push for better than that if we can get it.

Hi
The road works appear to have been completed last week, do you just get the update on Friday with regard to connection and commissioning
Regards
Peter.
#21
Hi Peter, We normally get the updates on Thursday afternoon and publish on Friday afternoon. We do it this way to try to minimise the volume of enquiries from us to BT. We give them a list of enquiries every week and they update accordingly. Cabinet 1 off Honington is on this list. Regards Steve

Hi,
Pardon my ignorance but what does RFS stand for
Peter Bowes
#23
Good Morning Peter,

My apologies, it means Ready For Service. In other words, all engineering and testing is complete and it has been passed to the Internet Service Providers. Circa 2 weeks after the RFS date it moves to a status of CRFS which means you can order upgrades from your provider.
As soon as the cabinet goes to CRFS, it appears on out Friday completions list on this site.

steve
