Sausthorpe Cabinet 4
I understand that I am served by the above cabinet which has FTTP On Demand.
1. News media suggests that when a cabinet is fibre enhanced the normal copper cable
downstream "simply" requires connecting to the cabinet for the particular householder
to benefit in improved speed. Is this the case ?
2. Our average speed is 1.5 mbps . Is there any improvement on the horizon please ?
Good Morning Simon,
I'm afraid that FTTP on Demand can be a little misleading and I do wish Openreach wouldn't put it on their systems.
FTTP on Demand is a totally separate and stand alone product where an end user can request a fibre to their property. That's the good news, but the reality is that you will pay by the metre etc. depending upon distance from the nearest fibre, which in this case at present, isn't at the cabinet. Inevitably, this will run into a large sum of money that you will be required to pay.
On a more positive note, we are looking to upgrade your area and will have more information towards the end of June.
Thank you for the clarification.
It did appear to be too good to be true.
I look forward to the news in June.
Hello again Stephen,
Perhaps I am being precipitate but just wondered if there is any good news yet ?
I have recently noticed that what appears to be a new cabinet has been installed
at the top of our road !
It would appear that the new cabinet (17) installed in the village centre is fibre enhanced.
This is significantly closer than cabinet 4 for myself & other villagers.
How does one gain access to this cabinet please ?
