Learn the secrets of doing business online

Businesses will be able to learn the secrets of e-commerce, internet marketing and social media at a series of free events.

Onlincolnshire will host masterclasses offering top tips on selling over the internet and successful online marketing, as well as social media workshops which look in detail at using Twitter, Facebook and Linkedin.

The 17 events will be held between now and July in Sleaford, Stamford, Lincoln, Rutland, Spalding and Grantham, and are open to all businesses across Lincolnshire and Rutland.

The events follow a series of taster sessions which looked at a range of topics including how businesses can deal with change, developing a digital strategy and social media.

The first social media surgeries will take place on Wednesday, April 23 at the New Life Centre in Sleaford; the first is a workshop on Twitter between 9.30am and 12.30pm, while the second will be on Linkedin between 1pm and 4pm.

Councillor Colin Davie, Executive Member for Economic Development at Lincolnshire County Council, said: “The masterclasses are a full day of intensive training sessions on making the most out of the opportunities which e-commerce and internet marketing offer, equipping businesses with the tools to improve their practice and performance.

“Social media is also fast becoming a vital tool for any business to utilise in their everyday working practice, and these surgeries will allow businesses to understand the best way to make the most of it.

“It’s important that businesses in Lincolnshire have the chance to operate on a global platform, which is exactly what these events will allow them to do.”

The masterclasses are limited to 12 people, the social media surgeries are limited to six people, and places are allocated on a first come, first served basis. One-to-one advice and support is also being offered.

The activity is part of a wider project of support across Lincolnshire and Rutland being run by onlincolnshire, which is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
